5 Spring Craft Ideas to Try With Kids

Pressed Flower Picture Frames

First, we used pressed flowers of many different colors and varieties, and I let the kids arrange them on a picture frame. This craft is such a beautiful way for them to explore different colors, learn about new flowers and plants, and develop an eye for design.

Pressing flowers is also a great way to preserve the beauty of spring and turn it into something long-lasting.

In our case we used pressed flowers from Amazon but you can also grab fresh flowers or collect them from your garden as well.

If you grab fresh flowers, prep them by pressing them between two heavy books for a few days. Once they are dry and flat you can use them!

My kids had a blast arranging the pressed flowers on a simple floating picture frame.

The result is a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind floral picture frame that can be displayed at home or gifted to a loved one.

This craft makes for a wonderful keepsake and is a great way to bring a touch of nature indoors.

Wooden Flower Painting

Another easy but fun spring craft is painting wooden flowers.

These cute, pre-cut wooden flowers from Amazon were perfect for little hands to decorate with paint, glitter, and stickers.

We used bright spring paint colors and got to work.

You can even add some shimmer paint to make them extra special. Once they dried, feel free to place them in flower pots or just around the house for a cute DIY decoration.

This activity allowed the kids to practice their fine motor skills, mix different colors, and create something unique to brighten up our home.

It was also a no-mess, stress-free craft that kept them engaged for a long time.

DIY Painted Birdhouses

Mini wooden birdhouses are another fun spring craft to do with kids.

This was such a fun project because my kids were able to express their creativity and design whatever they wanted with it!

Once the paint dried, we hung the birdhouses in our backyard and are now eagerly waiting to see which birds will make them their home.

Painting birdhouses is also a wonderful opportunity to talk to kids about different types of birds, their habitats, and how we can help take care of them.

We had fun discussing different bird species that might visit our yard and how providing them with a safe place to nest can encourage more wildlife in our area.

DIY Flower Pots

To add to our spring-themed crafts, we also decorated our own flower pots.

We actually did this for Father’s Day and had such a great time!

Use plain terra cotta pots or plastic pots, and have your kids paint them with fun designs and spring colors!

Feel free to add in some handprints to make them extra special. Once they dried, plant small flowers or herbs in them and display them.

Butterfly Suncatchers

Another super fun craft to do with kids is making butterfly suncatchers.

Amazon has a ton of great DIY kits here, here, and here! Or if you would rather do it 100% on your own you can grab different tissue paper colors and cut them into small pieces to create colorful, stained-glass effect wings.

Placed the tissue paper pieces onto the sticky side of the contact paper, shaping them into butterfly wings before sealing them with another layer of contact paper.

After cutting them out add pipe cleaner antennae and tape them to the windows.

Now you have beautiful, colorful butterflies catching the sunlight!

Springtime Crafts for Kids of All Ages

Spring is the perfect time to get creative with crafts that celebrate nature, colors, and the outdoors.

Whether it’s making pressed flower picture frames, painting birdhouses, decorating wooden flowers, crafting flower pots, gardening, or making butterfly suncatchers, each of these activities offers a fun way for kids to learn and create.
